The list below is some things that I have done which I would not do in the future.
- I had two sections of the same course because we have an August and January start. I prepared the Blog and both sections used it. The class to use it first regarded it as 'their website'. The second class did not have the same enthusiasm as the Blog was not 'theirs'.
- Sometimes the I make changes to the Blog which do not appear straight away. I now know that the changes appear OK to visitors to the website although I cannot see them. I wasted a lot of time on this one!
- I tried to edit two Blogs at once. It is best to log out of one Blog before logging into the other.
- Always remember to republish and refresh.
- As soon as the Blog comes into existence change the Settings so that spam is avoided.
- Show students how to leave a comment at the start. Let the comments be anonymous but make sure that 'fuzzy letters' are selected.
- Add the counter straight away (sitemeter). This is a good check of the security settings.
